    What do I want?: CASH. (which I’m sure I won’t get…)

    What am I getting my mother: a garden/plant/outdoor surprise package - probably from IKEA.

    Sorry - rant…
    I’ve had increasingly ill feelings about Mother’s Day the last half a dozen years.

    I’ve realized it’s always about me trying to please and doing things for my mom, nothing to do with ME being a mother myself.

    But…I just found out my mom is not going to be in town this weekend, so I have the day FREE! (Thank you, Powers That Be!) Free not spend the afternoon in my mom’s kitchen listening to her complain about my dad. Free not to listen to her intimating she’s disappointed I didn’t get her expensive face cream or clothes from Ann Taylor like my sisters do… {{roll eyes}}

    So, weather permitting, I might check out a hiking spot near me I read about in BACKPACKER magazine. And drag my two long haired teenaged boys with me. Hee. I’ll find a long, grueling hike and in the middle of the trail, while stopping for a break, I’ll grin wildly and ask them, “Gee - isn’t Mother’s Day FUN this year?” :D

    This will be my second Mother’s Day and I think my family is going to just do the “us” thing for Sunday. I didn’t ask for anything! I am giving my Mom a pair of monogrammed flip flops (so cute!)!! Check out this link for the flops:

    My mom died three weeks ago. My sister and I are getting memorial tattoos in her honor. Nothing like new ink to soothe some grief.

    My mom just received a bouquet of pink tulips and blue lillies delivered to her at work (to let everyone know she is loved) and Sunday we are all driving two hours to surprise my grandma.
