According to Pet Care: Cats in heat may display the following signs:

• Case: A Cat may roll on her back, becoming more docile and solicitous of petting or attention.

  POINT: The preceding picture featured in Jane Magazine

• Case: Changes in temperament, ranging from lethargy to irritability, may be observed in the cat between heat cycles.

  POINT: An irritable Barton recently lashed out at Paris Hilton calling her a ’silly bitch’.

• Case: A cat in heat carries her tail to one side, keeps her hindquarters elevated, exhibits “treading” movements of the hind legs, and seems unusually affectionate. She spends a good deal of time rolling on the floor and seems much more restless than usual.

  POINT: Mischa Barton was caught doing some mating victory dance after talking to Jake’ Gyllenhaal at the BAFTA awards last weekend. The Daily Mirror reports,
  

  At the Baftas dinner The OC’s Mischa Barton went out of her way to get an introduction to the fabulous Jake. Our spy tells us: “They swapped numbers and when he walked away she did a little victory dance to her friend.”
